Inspiration for everyone.

Mr. Sujit Dhar is an amazing chess player who got his official rating of 1535 at the age of 75!! in 1st Guwahati Smart City Open International Chess Tournament. The tournament was held at Sarusojai Stadium Guwahati from 2 July to 7 July, around 278 Players participated, and he scored 5.5 out of 10 Rounds to achieve the Fide Rating.

Mr. Dhar was the manager of the Assam chess team for a long time. I played for Assam under his leadership throughout my career. His son, Mr. Rajib Dhar, is now the secretary of the Assam Chess Association.

Mr. Dhar is well-known in Assam for his skill in chess and for guiding the chess team. He helped many players, including me, to improve and compete well. His leadership was really important for the team. I remember him cooking food for the whole team in many tournaments because we couldn’t eat the local cuisine and he said “If you don’t eat properly ASSAM’s performance will suffer”.

Besides being a manager, Mr. Dhar’s family is also important in Assam’s chess. His son now manages chess affairs for the state. Mr. Rajib Dhar’s influence has made Assam a strong place for chess.

Mr. Sujit Dhar’s story shows that age is not a limit for doing great things. He inspires us with his love for chess and his dedication to the game. His role as a mentor and leader in Assam’s chess community is something we all admire and appreciate.

CHESS SCHOOL ASSAM congratulates Mr.Sujit Dhar for his achievement and wishes him the best for his health and future tournaments.
